Hello! Happy New Year’s Eve! I really can’t believe it almost 2014! That is so crazy! Within the last week & a half the kiddos have had 6 snow days from school! Yay! So we have had plenty of time to do a lot of holiday baking! ;) While I was at Walmart the other day (between cold spells stocking up!) I noticed the Dulce De Leche Cheesecake Kits in the Baking Center. So I picked up a couple to try out! :) We ended up making two different recipes, and they turned out sooooo yummy that we decided to package some up & surprise our snowed in neighbors with some yummy treats. I love Christmas time, and it has become even better since we’ve had kiddos! One of our favorite Christmas traditions is making cookies for Santa on Christmas Eve. Usually we make peanut butter cookies with a Hershey Kiss on top, but this year we are going to try something a little different. I had bought some of the Candy Cane Hershey Kisses for some Snowman Soup gifts I was putting together, and I thought they’d be super yummy on some cookies! Good morning! I know I don’t usually post on Saturdays but this week we had something HUGE happen ~ so I had to share! Are you ready for this? We had a snow day ~ actually TWO snow days! Wahoo! ;) We received over 10 inches of snow from Thursday to Friday! Now this doesn’t happen very often around here at all. So we were a little bit excited! ;) When it snows this much one of our favorite things to do is to make snow ice cream. I love baking cookies! Yum! One of my favorites (that my mom always made!) are peanut butter cookies. :) We made those all the time growing up, and believe it or not I think I’ve improved the recipe! ha! ;) I added Peanut M&M’s to our favorite peanut butter cookie recipe, & it turned them into the ultimate peanut butter cookies. It’s the holidays! Yay! Buuut with all the fun comes a lot of eating ~ and lots of that eating isn’t so good for you! Ugh! So this week (after stuffing myself last week at Thanksgiving!) It’s cold & flu season, annnnd if you have kiddos (like me!) you probably already knew that! haha! ;) With my 5 kiddos it seems like just about every other week or so someone has a cough or the sniffles. Usually when my kiddos are sick especially if they have a fever along with that runny nose I’ll try to quarantine them in my bedroom. I try to keep all the germs in one room. Sometimes it works, sometimes not so much, but I try. ;) Anyways, while they are in lock down I try to keep them entertained with some fun movies, yummy snacks & a craft or two to pass the time. Of course, they’ll have a big box of Kleenex, a favorite blanket & toy in there as well. Annnd sometimes we even use the Kleenex in our craft projects!
