Within the last week & a half the kiddos have had 6 snow days from school! Yay! So we have had plenty of time to do a lot of holiday baking! ;) While I was at Walmart the other day (between cold spells stocking up!) I noticed the Dulce De Leche Cheesecake Kits in the Baking Center. So I picked up a couple to try out! :) We ended up making two different recipes, and they turned out sooooo yummy that we decided to package some up & surprise our snowed in neighbors with some yummy treats. So keep reading to see the yummy recipes we made, & I also have a free printable tag you can use when you treat your neighbors, too. :)
This is the box you’ll be looking for if you decide to make these cheesecake recipes. I found them in the center aisle baking center not in the regular baking aisle at my Walmart. So check there if you can’t find it right off. You’ll also need to pick up some cream cheese, eggs & butter if you need those. I did! ;) The baking kit has everything else you’ll need to get started.
Inside the box you’ll find the crushed graham cracker crust, filling for the #perfectpie & some caramel.
You’ll mix some melted butter with the graham cracker crumbs & press them into a spring form pan or regular pie pan for your crust.
Then you’ll mix the filling mix, cream cheese & eggs together.
Then you’ll pour the batter into the pan & smooth it out. Then bake it in the oven until the center springs up when you touch it lightly.
After the cheesecake was cooled I poured some homemade strawberry jam that I had made last spring over the top. This turned it into a yummy Strawberry Jam Cheesecake. Delicious! :)
Then I basically did the same thing but instead of making a pie I made some mini Caramel Almond Cheesecake Bites! Yum! So instead of the spring form pan I just used a mini muffin pan & muffin liners to make tiny cheesecakes. Then I topped them off with some almond slices, & then I drizzled some caramel over the top. These little guys were soooooo good! My kiddos have already requested I make more of these for Christmas dinner. ;) One Dulce De Leche Cheesecake Kit was enough to make 48 mini cheesecake bites! So we had plenty to share! ;)
One of our neighbors was having a hard time dealing with all the snow & ice. I could tell from her facebook posts! ;) So we decided to package up some of the mini cheesecake bites & take them down the street to her & her husband. Every package needs a festive tag, right? ;) So I made a cute tag & printed it out. You can right click & save this image if you’d like to use it, too. ;) You can resize it if you need to. I used Word to resize mine.
I printed it out on green cardstock & used a jumbo circle punch to punch them out. I made a few extra so we could make some more treats to deliver later on when the snow melts, & we can get out of our neighborhood. ha! ;) Then I used a mini hole punch to make a spot to tie them onto our package.
I had a treat box in my craft stash. So I just cut a piece of holiday scrapbook paper to fit in the bottom.
Then I filled the box with lots of caramel almond cheesecake bites, tied some twine around the box & added our festive tag. Then I sent the kiddos down the street to deliver it to our neighbors. :)
If you are snowed in (like us!) you can find the Dulce De Leche Cheesecake Kits on Walmart.com & have it delivered right to your door. :) You can also connect with Nestle (the makers of the Dulce De Leche Cheesecake Kits) on twitter & facebook.
