Conference Journal {tutorial}

This post is not sponsored by affiliate links are used. Thank you for supporting Ginger Snap Crafts. Also, thank you to Cricut and the Duck Brand for supplying some of the product for this post.

Good morning! This weekend my church holds it’s semi-annual General Conference. Church leaders including our prophet & apostles speak to us sharing inspired messages that are just for us & you, too. They are timely messages that are truly for everyone. Along with conference weekend, comes many traditions in our family, we always have a big breakfast with yummy breakfast casserole and of course, cinnamon rolls. We then watch conference, and many of us take notes as we listen to the speakers. I usually grab some inexpensive notebooks from the Dollar Tree to use for notetaking. This year I personalized them just a little bit. So I thought I’d share how to make these cute Conference Journal! Let’s get started! :)

Prayer Rock {tutorial}

Good morning! It’s time for another addition of Craft Lightning! You know those fun & easy crafts that can be completed in 15 minutes or less! This month’s theme is painted rocks. You can find a super fun painted rock book over on Amazon right now from one of our fellow bloggers. Check that out here. :) When I first heard this theme….the first idea that popped in my head was a prayer rock! My daughter & I have been working on some Personal Progress goals for our young women program at church. Annnnnd one of the goals we are working on is to remember to say our morning & evening prayers. A prayer rock comes in super handy for that! ;) I’m also sharing a cute poem to go along with it. So, let’s get started!

DIY Temple Necklace {tutorial}

This post is not sponsored, but affiliate links are used.

Good morning! Recently I was called as the 2nd counselor in the Young Women’s program (the girls age 11-18) at church. So, you might see a lot more young women inspired crafts now on the blog. ha! ;) Anyways, it’s been a lot of fun. I work mostly with the younger girls ages 11-13, and they are fabulous! One of them is my amazing daughter! :) I love spending time with them. Recently at our Personal Progress night we were talking about why we work on our personal progress goals & why we say the YW theme each week. It all leads us to the temple. So, I made these cute DIY temple necklaces that they could wear to remind them of their goal to go to the temple.

Temple Tie Tack {tutorial}

This is not a sponsored post, but affiliate links are used.

Good morning! Father’s Day is this weekend! Eek! Time is flying! Seems like yesterday that it was Mother’s Day! I wanted to pop on really quick & share what we are doing this year for all the dads in our church congregation. In our religion temples are super important. You can find out more about temples here. Temples are where families can be sealed together forever. So, we thought it would be cute to make these Temple Tie Tacks for all the dads. You could also easily personalized these with a heart, picture or just some cute scrapbook paper instead. Let me show you how easy these are to make!

Daughters of God: Being Women Who Love, Learn, and Lead

Thanks so much to the Mormon Channel for guest posting today! :)

The scriptures offer powerful examples of strong women who lead others and live the teachings of Jesus. In the Old Testament, women such as Ruth and Esther lived according to what they believed was God’s will, doing their best to love, learn, and lead. Modern daughters of God can do the same.

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas from our family to yours!
I hope you have a wonderful day filled with faith, family & fun!

Blessing Bags #LightTheWorld

Good morning! I hope you been following along on my facebook page as I have been sharing different ways to light the world each day this month leading up to Christmas. Every day has a new theme & a new way to brighten someone’s life this holiday season. I know my family has been blessed as we have tried to light the world this year. You can find out more & download a calendar to put on your fridge over at Mormon.org. It’s not too late to join! I am a den leader for a pack of crazy Cub Scouts at church. ha! So this year, I thought it would be fun to include them in a fun service project. This week we were able to make Blessing Bags for those that are hungry.

6 Ways to Establish Optimism at Home

This is a special guest post from the Mormon Channel.

I am so excited to turn my blog over to the folks from the Mormon Channel today. I also have a link to how you can get a special gift from our family at the bottom of this post. Enjoy! :)

Your attitude not only affects yourself, it affects your family. So if you want your family to be healthier and happier, then your family needs to have an optimistic mindset. Optimism is more than an attitude, though. It’s how you look at and face challenges, failures, and other life obstacles. To have a more optimistic home, you have to show your family how to think and act positively every day and in every situation. And here are six ways you can do that.

Little Boys & Scriptures #PrinceofPeace

I am so excited to partner with mormon.org again this year as they launch their Easter campaign ~ Prince of Peace. #PrinceofPeace

I look forward to the Easter and Christmas campaigns every year. This year mormon.org is launching a brand new campaign centered around the Prince of Peace, Jesus Christ. This Easter season I hope we all take time to remember His life & His sacrifice for us. The official campaign launches this Friday, March 31. Be sure to follow me on instagram and facebook. I will be updating as the campaign launches & gets underway.

prince of peace

In the week leading up to Easter, each day they will have a new attribute to focus on & ideas to help you get started. The goal is to help bring us closer to Christ & to be more like our Savior. I don’t want to give too much away, but for example one attribute that will be highlighted is reading the scriptures. I know when I read the scriptures I feel closer to my Savior & to my Heavenly Father. Every time I read my scriptures, something new stands out to me. I swear it was written just for me! :) When I think of the scriptures and scripture reading it also reminds me of my oldest son, Zachary. Zach is serving a mission for our church right now. He has always been a dedicated scripture reader even before his mission. Many times I would find him in his room reading & marking his scriptures. He’s always been a great example to me.

“Ofishally” a Missionary {printable}

Good morning! I hope you all had a fabulous 4th of July! This 4th of July was a little weird for us, because our oldest is on his own this year all the way in Utah! Eek! He is serving a 2 year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He has been at the Missionary Training Center in Provo, Utah for the past 3 weeks. He has learned a ton & had lots of fun. Today he heads out to the Salt Lake City West Mission. He is so excited to get started serving the people of Utah. To celebrate “ofishally” becoming a missionary I sent him a small treat in the mail last week. I thought it turned out super cute, so I thought I’d share the free “You are ofishally a missionary now.” printable with you! So keep reading! :)

Easter is on it’s way! #Hallelujah

Good morning! Next Sunday we will be celebrating Easter! So I wanted to pop in real quick to share some ideas that help me (& maybe you, too) focus more on the Savior this week. I love what my friend, Amanda is doing over on her Instagram account. Each year she does a 14 Day Walk with Christ series, and this year it is all on Instagram. Be sure to check it out this week sometime. It’s not too late to jump in & follow along. You can do that right {HERE}.
