This past week we had so many Christmas parties to attend! It was crazy! So today I’m going to show you how to make this oh so cute & easy cake topper that turns any cake into a fun party centerpiece. It only takes a couple of minutes to put one together. Everyone will be so impressed with your cake! ha! ;) Keep reading to see how to make it.
For this project you will need:
scrapbook paper
striped paper straws
pennant nesting dies from Lifestyle Crafts
alphabet die from Lifestyle Crafts
die cutting machine
scissors
glue
Lifestyle Crafts QuickStik Craft Tool
twine
Die cutting is so easy! You can check out my die cutting tutorial if you need a more detailed look. Basically you set your die sharp side up on your die cutting platform. Then put the scrapbook paper pretty side down right on top. Then you’ll put a cutting mat on top (not pictured) then crank it through your machine by turning a handle.
The pressure of your die cutting machine pushes the paper into the die cutting out perfect shapes or letters. :)
I cut out the letters & the pennants then I grabbed the Lifestyle Crafts QuickStick Craft Tool. This was my first time using this tool, and I am in love. Seriously! ha! ;) It made picking up the tiny pieces of paper so easy! How did I ever live without this handy little gadget!?!? ;)
It has a sticky tip to pick up the letters & then a pointy poker that helps get the letter off once it’s where you want it. So helpful! ;)
After I all my letters were glued into place I strung my pennants together using some twine & a sewing needle. Yes, a sewing needle. Works like a charm! ;)
Then I threaded the extra twine on each side inside each straw.
Then I used a piece of washi tape to hold it in place.
Then I put my cake topper on my cake! Easy, peasy plus it looks so cute! I thought it was the perfect festive touch to our cake.
