Glitter Snow Globe {tutorial}

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! Eek! ;) We even have some snow in the forecast for early next week! Yay! Buuuut until we see some real white stuff we thought it would be fun to make a Glitter Snow Globe. These are the perfect craft for the kiddos, and the new Sparkle Mod Podge was perfect for that sparkly, snow effect. Keep reading to see how easy it was to make these. :)

For this project you will need:

Sparkly Mod Podge
foam brush
holiday scrapbook paper
white glitter
mason jar
fake snow
washi tape
glue stick
holiday stamp
star punch
circle punch
glue dots

I’m sure you have heard of Mod Podge before! If not let me tell you a little bit about it. ha! ;) Mod Podge is the number one all-in-one glue, sealer and finish.  It comes in tons of different varieties, and you are sure to find one perfect for all of your holiday projects. You can find Mod Podge at retailers nationwide and on Plaid’s website as well. If you’ve never used Mod Podge before you might want this check out Decoupage Basics over at Plaidonline.com. :) That’s a great place to get started! For this project I used the Sparkle Mod Podge. Yes, ooh, sparkly! ;) It’s basically Mod Podge with glitter in it. Love it!

The very first thing I did was coat the outside of my jar with the Sparkle Mod Podge. Can you see the glitter? Then I set that aside to let dry.

Next I punched out a circle, & then used a glue dot to secure it to the inside of my lid.

To make the tree I used my Silhouette to cut out this 3D Christmas tree. This would be very easy to do with a stencil if you don’t own a Silhouette. Cut a slit in the top of one & the bottom of the other, & then you can slide them together to make a tree.

Then just set the tree inside your lid. You can secure it with glue dots if you’d like to.

Next I glued a little star to the top of my tree with a glue stick, & then I filled the bottom of the lid with white glitter to look like snow. :) I added some fake snow to my tree as well.

Then I carefully put the mason jar over the tree & screwed on the on the lid.

Then I put some washi tape around my lid. I just love polka dots! ha! ;)

I stamped a cute North Pole stamp from PSA Essentials for the top of my jar, and then used a glue dot to hold it in place.

There you go ~ a simple, cute & fun glitter snow globe! ;) I’m sure your kiddos would enjoy making these as much as mine did.
