Easy DIY Shiplap Wall {tutorial}

Good morning! This summer we will celebrate our 2 year anniversary in our new home, buuuuut believe it or not I still have projects from our old home that I haven’t shared! ha! Sooooo I thought I’d better get on that. ;) This is a tutorial I shared as a guest post on another blog several years ago, and it inspired the real shiplap we have in our home now. I just love clean look at shiplap (or planks!). Annnnnd I hope this design trend becomes a staple for many years to come. Good morning! As most of you know we recently built our own home. It was a process! Whew! ;) We had our final inspection a few months ago. I was so excited to have our LAST one! They came back & said everything looked great, buuuuuuuuuut we would have to add gutters before we could convert our construction loan into a conventional home loan. What??!! To say we were a little bit busy over the next several days putting up gutters is an understatement. ha! We had to work quickly, so that we could close on our home on the originally scheduled day. Ways to Keep Your Home Safe From Carbon Monoxide

Good morning! Today I’d like to talk about something that is extremely important to me. Something I am passionate about ~ keeping my home safe for my family. A few years ago, some friends of ours lost some close family friends to carbon monoxide poisoning. The cause was a faulty heating system and not having carbon monoxide detectors in their home. Having those detectors could of prevented that senseless tragedy. As soon as I heard about it, I went right to the store and bought carbon monoxide alarms for our home. It’s crazy that it took a tragedy before I did something so simple as installing those alarms. Many states (California, Idaho, Kentucky, Louisiana, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma Oregon, Virginia, Washington & Wisconsin) adopted new building codes that took effect in 2011 which requires carbon monoxide alarms in all one-and-two-family homes. That’s been seven years ago! As with everything, these alarms don’t last forever. So, today I am excited to partner with First Alert to remind you that it’s time to change out those aging carbon dioxide alarms with brand new ones.
