Thank you First Alert for sponsoring this post. Don’t let the beep steal your sleep.
Good morning! Today I’d like to talk about something that is extremely important to me. Something I am passionate about ~ keeping my home safe for my family. A few years ago, some friends of ours lost some close family friends to carbon monoxide poisoning. The cause was a faulty heating system and not having carbon monoxide detectors in their home. Having those detectors could of prevented that senseless tragedy. As soon as I heard about it, I went right to the store and bought carbon monoxide alarms for our home. It’s crazy that it took a tragedy before I did something so simple as installing those alarms. Many states (California, Idaho, Kentucky, Louisiana, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma Oregon, Virginia, Washington & Wisconsin) adopted new building codes that took effect in 2011 which requires carbon monoxide alarms in all one-and-two-family homes. That’s been seven years ago! As with everything, these alarms don’t last forever. So, today I am excited to partner with First Alert to remind you that it’s time to change out those aging carbon dioxide alarms with brand new ones. Even if you don’t live in one of those states, please take action. It could save your life and the lives of your family!
What is Carbon Monoxide? Carbon Monoxide is an invisible, odorless and deadly gas that can be produced by any fuel-burning device. Sources of Carbon Monoxide? CO can be produced by any fuel-burning device, such as a furnace, boiler, stove, or cars. Even if your home is all electric, but you do have an attached garage, a CO alarm is great to install.
CO alarms detect this poisonous gas and provide early warning. First Alert has a variety of CO alarms that can fit your family’s needs. I personally love the easy plug-in alarms. They are so simple to install & use. They also have battery backup incase of power outages.
So, all you have to do is plug it in. So easy!
They also makes this handy Smoke & Carbon Monoxide combo alarm with a 10 year battery life.
This handy table top Carbon Monoxide Alarm is extremely easy to use & install as well (no tools required!).
Whichever style of CO alarm you chose to install is not as important, of just doing it! Find out the CO alarm regulations in your state. Most require CO alarms on each level or your home & in each sleeping area. Remember to maintain, test & replace your alarms as needed. Don’t let the beep steal your sleep! What does this mean? Alarms have an end of life warning, letting you know it’s time to replace. The beep, beep, beep of your alarm means it’s time to replace it. Remember, having working CO alarms can save your family’s life. Remind your neighbors, family & friends as well. Let’s keep everyone safe!
