This post brought to you by Silhouette.
Happy Tuesday! Well yesterday I told you that I was headed to Texas for my little sister’s wedding! Yehaw! Well, I’m pretty sure she is going to be too busy to be reading my blog this week, so I’m going to go ahead & show you her wedding gift! Shhhhhh! ;)
My sister, Leigh did something similar for me when we got married a few years ago! Well, maybe it was more that a few years ago! ha! ;) Anyways, I bought a huge 2 gallon glass canister at Walmart & filled it with all those kitchen gadgets that they’ll need ~ a can opener, peeler, measuring cups & spoons, salt & pepper shakers, corn on the cob holders, spatula, whisk, etc. Then I made it extra cute by adding some fun Silhouette vinyl to the outside of the canister! Keep reading to see how I did it! Annnnd I’ve got a Silhouette promotion & giveaway for you, too! Yay! :)
Before we get to the tutorial let me tell you about the ah-mazing Silhouette promotion this month! I know I always say that they have amazing deals! ha! Buuuut this one is really, really good ~ especially if you LOVE vinyl like I do! :)
Silhouette has two awesome deals going on this month…..
(1) Silhouette CAMEO®, 2 rolls of vinyl (chalkboard and white) and 1 roll of transfer paper: $269.99
(2) Buy one get one free deals on all Silhouette vinyl (including transfer paper and stencil vinyl)
To get these deals you’ll need to go to the special promotion page & use the code GINGERSNAP.
I have been addicted to vinyl for several years now! Yes, I have a problem! ha! ;) Buuuut you can use it for so many things! It comes in tons of colors. You can use it on walls, glass, signs, as a stencil, for labeling, & so much more! I have it everywhere in my house! ha! My husband is wondering why I haven’t labeled him yet! ha! (You can check out all my vinyl projects here.) Now is the time to stock up on vinyl! That is a great deal! :)
OK…now back to the tutorial for a simple, easy & useful wedding gift. :) For this project I found the cute Ready Set Eat design on the Silhouette online store. (Most designs are just a dollar each! Each week they always have a free shape that I try to remember to get, too!) Anyways, I opened this shape up using my Silhouette software. Then I sent it to my Silhouette to cut! (You can see a more detailed vinyl cutting tutorial here.)
This is how the vinyl will look when you have it all set to apply! The grid paper on top is called transfer paper, and it makes it so easy to apply your vinyl.
Let me tell you…vinyl loves glass! ;) It goes on very easily. The only thing you need to watch out for are air bubbles in your letters. Just make sure you really rub it down with your fingers or a squeegee before removing your transfer tape.
After the vinyl was applied I filled the canister with all kinds of kitchen gadgets!
Did you notice my salt & pepper shakers? Yep, I made them a little cuter with some more vinyl! Too cute! :)
Then I tied a ribbon & added a tag around the jar. It’s all set to go ~ the perfect wedding gift! :) Well, I hope my sister thinks so anyways! ha! :)
