This post is brought to you by DecoArt. If you are looking for {wow me} wednesday go here. :)
Did you know that DecoArt makes specialty glass paints that include writers, glitter & transparent paints, stains, & even glass markers? Yep, they sure do! :) Today I’d love to show you how I made these DIY vintage mason jars using some Americana Transparent Glass Paint. I love how super easy they were to put together. So keep reading to see how simple & quick these DIY vintage mason jars were to make! I even have a link to 20+ other DecoArt Glass Paint projects from some of my favorite bloggers! :)
The supply list for this project is pretty short! :)
You’ll need:
- glass mason jar
- rubbing alcohol
- cotton balls or tissue
- Americana Transparent Glass Paint ~ Blue
- cosmetic sponge
First you’ll need to clean your jar with the rubbing alcohol using a tissue or cotton ball.
Then I used a cosmetic sponge to apply a thin layer of the Americana Transparent Glass Paint. You’ll have to work fast before the paint starts to dry. Tip: Make sure you smooth out any paint that gets caught around the letters & rim.
If it doesn’t look they way you want it to the first time. Just rinse your jar under running water, rub & the paint comes right off. Then you can start again! It takes some practice! :)
Once you have your jars exactly how you want them let them dry for 48 hours. Then bake them in a non-preheated oven for 30 minutes at 200 degrees. Let them cool with the oven door opened. This bonds the paint to the glass, and you can even run these jars through the dishwasher! :)
I really love how these turned out! These jars have so many possibilities from home décor to gift giving! I’m thinking about using them for craft storage! Wouldn’t that be so cute? ;)
Americana Glass Paints are available at Michaels, JoAnn Fabric and Craft Stores, Pat Catan's Craft Centers, A.C. Moore, Beverly's, and other fine craft retailers. For more information on Americana Glass Paints you can visit http://www.decoart.com/glasspaint.
