I'm so excited to be a part of Ginger's summer tutorials and share with you a sneak peek at one of the projects from my DIY style book titled The Chic Girl's Guide to a One-of-a-Kind Wardrobe. With cooler weather just around the corner, I wanted to show how you can take a cropped summer top and refashion it to create the perfect blouse for work.
Peplums are a huge trend right now so you can smarten up your act by creating an on-trend peplum blouse using only a cropped top and half a yard of fabric. You can match the colors as I did for this project or make the peplum a different color entirely (that would work really well using black and white). The main thing is that your peplum length flare gently over the hips--it shouldn't be any longer than six to eight inches, depending on your height. Too long and it's a tunic--too short and it's a tutu (and we wouldn't want to look like a lost ballerina, after all). Update a cropped top with a flattering peplum to create a fashion piece that will glam up the most hectic of mornings.
That turned out beautiful! Thanks for sharing, Kristina!
