On Saturday my son, Rylan, had his very first football game! Actually 3….yes, we had 3 football games in one day! It was a football jamboree, & each team played short 30 minute games throughout the day. Even though we were super busy (& hot ha!) that day, we were still able to squeeze in a little bit of service by donating some healthy snacks to some kiddos in need.
I’ve blogged about Champions for Kids before, and I absolutely love how easy they make it to get involved & give back to the community! This month in select stores in Arkansas & Missouri you can find #SIMPLEGiving pallets & donation boxes at Walmart. Keep reading to find out what to look for at Walmart, & I’ll show you some healthy snacks ideas that make awesome donation items.
Before we headed to Walmart we had some intense football playing! ha! :) So I had to share a few pictures. ;) I also wanted to show you that even if you’re busy like we all are ~ you can still find little ways to serve others. It doesn’t take much time or money, and Champions for Kids makes it so easy with their simple service projects each month!
This month it is all about healthy snacks for kids! :) It’s back to school time, and children need nutritious & yummy lunches & snacks. Champions for Kids has set up pallets in select Walmart stores full of great products to donate to children in need. These items can be used in school lunches, for after school snacks, on outings & for on-the-go athletes.
I’m sure you’ll recognize some of these items:
Dole Fruit Bowls &/or Squish’ems ~ convenient, yummy fruit, great on-the-go snack, healthy, nutritious & delicious, great for lunches & outings
POWERADE ZERO™ ~ turns water into a zero calorie sports drink, each bottle makes 24 servings, great for athletes, helps replenish electrolytes that are lost in sweat
Kelloggs Fruit Snacks ~ fat free & low calorie snack, made with real fruit, lots of Disney & Super Hero fun (FYI: Some Kelloggs fruit snacks are gluten free!)
100 Calorie packs of Emerald Nuts ~ great for on-the-go snacking, portion controlled servings, great way to stay fueled between meals, yummy & delicious snack
DASANI Drops ~ adds flavor & sweetness to your water bottles, comes in 6 flavors, one bottle makes 32 8oz. servings, naturally flavored & has zero calories per serving
We grabbed a few of each of these, & then we headed to the check out. :) Then we went looking for the donation box! Our Walmart hadn’t set their box up quite yet. Customer Service was so helpful & set the box up for us to make the first donation. Hopefully many more donations will be coming in soon! :)
My son wanted to be the one to put the donation in the box! He was so happy to help! It always makes you feel good to help someone else out! :)
I would encourage each of you to help out if you can! If you don’t live near a #CFK donation site I’m sure you can find a place in your community that would accept donations like a food bank, women’s shelter or school! As they say in football, “Let’s Do This!” :)
Make sure you connect with Champions for Kids when you get the chance. They are amazing! :) Our family has loved working with them on past simple service projects ~ Bowls of Hope, Bright Smiles, Bright Futures & Bag it Forward. :) I would encourage you all to get involved, too. :)
