Ginger Snap Crafts: Choosing the Right Rug Pad

Choosing the Right Rug Pad

This post is brought to your by Rug Pad USA.

Hello! How are you? Awesome, I hope! If you have followed me for a little while (especially on instagram) you know that we recently added on to our house. It was quite the undertaking! We did all the work ourselves, & it took us a year almost to the day! In June we passed the final inspection. Boy! What a relief that was! We still have a few landscaping projects to finish outside but the inside is completely done. I’m working on decorating now. It’s taking a little bit longer than expected! Hopefully it won’t take a year. ha! ;) Anyways, I had picked out a yellow rug (You can see it HERE.), but the neutral loving me couldn’t handle it. ;) So recently I switched it out for a white, shaggy rug & put the yellow rug in our bedroom. It looks so much better, & I love the yellow in our bedroom. Yay! So about the same time I was doing the rug switch-a-roo I was contacted by Will, the co-founder of a website called Rug Pad USA.  Rug Pad USA specializes in manufacturing higher end, eco-friendly rug pads that are made in the USA. He asked if I would like to review one of their rug pads! Of course, I said yes, and along the way I learned all about choosing the right rug pad. So I thought I’d share what I learned with you! So keep reading. :)

The first question to ask yourself is what kind of floors do you have in your home. That will make a big difference in what type of rug pad you end up needing. Do you have stone, laminate, wood floors, tile or carpet? Are you using your rug outdoors or indoors? Rug Pad USA has a rug pad for all those different types of flooring. They have felt, rubber, a combination of those, fabric, a cushioned organic rug pad & more. So they’ll have you covered! I picked a rug pad that would be perfect for our type of flooring. (FYI: This is the type of flooring we have.)

Next you’ll need to make sure you measure your rug so you know what size rug pad to order. I love that RugPadUSA.com will custom cut your rug pad to fit your rug perfectly! That’s what I had them do when I ordered mine. It told them my rug was 7 ft. 6 inches by 9 ft. 6 inches. The pad that came to me was just under that. It is the perfect fit!

You’ll also need to decide how thick you want you rug pad to be. On carpet or if you have an extra thick rug you can get away with a thinner rug pad since you’ll already have lots of cushion. For our home I wanted a little more cushion since it was going over vinyl planking. So the rug pad I choose has a 1/2 inch felt pad on it. It feels super nice under your feet, & it helps cut down on the noise of the kiddos running back & forth across the rug all day. ;)

Another thing to think about when you buy a rug pad is the quality of the rug pad you purchase. A lot of rug pads are imported & cheaply made. Some can even damage your floors. :( Rug Pad USA rug pads do not have any glues or chemicals in them, & they will not damage your floors. They are built to last. Rug Pad USA also offers at 20 year warranty on their rug pads! They really stand behind their product. I love that RugPadUSA.com specializes in eco-friendly rug pads that are made right here in the USA. That’s awesome! :)

choosing a rug

The last thing to think about when shopping for a rug pad is the shipping! When you order online one of the big deal breakers or makers is the shipping. Sometimes it can be outrageous! Well at RugPadUSA.com you can get FREE shipping on your order! Wahoo! Annnnd if you sign up for their newsletter you can get 10% off your order. I am very happy with my Rug Pad USA rug pad. It’s awesome! :)

Now I’m eyeing my next item on my to do list for this room ~ this wall! ha! ;)

house addition

I’m thinking a bench with hooks above it on the wall for the kiddos to hang their jackets & scarfs on when it gets colder. Maybe a basket for shoes? What do you think? I’d love to hear your ideas! Leave a comment below. :)
