Megan and her friend Cobi of Peacefrom6pieces have been the team behind this whole project. Their worldwide vision included creating their own video inspired by the song TRY. The talent of Robbins Creative made it possible for them to pull it off. You have to click play and see the beauty and bravery displayed and you might even recognize a few faces in there.
Myself along with 101+ other blogging women from different backgrounds, religions, ethnicities, ages, shapes and sizes (& countries!!!) have decided to be Brave and Beautiful! You can join in this movement too by sharing what you look like without makeup on. You don't need a blog either! Just tag your photo with #IamBraveAndBeautiful on Instgram and search the hashtag to see who else has joined in. ALSO, if you tag it with a second hashtag - #ColbieTRY we just might be able to get Colbie Caillat's attention since she was the inspiration behind it all!
Are you brave and beautiful? I am, here I go!
Warning! ha! This is what I look like 90% of the time! If I’m home working on projects, cleaning the house &/or chasing after my very active preschooler then I have on my glasses, my hair is up in a crazy bun, my leftover makeup is still on from the night before (It’s true! I never take off my makeup! I know I need to work on that! ha!) & a comfy tee & yoga pants. That’s how I roll. ;) P.S. Taking a selfie is not my thing! Can you tell? I did have a little fun with it. I can’t wait to show my 13 year old daughter all of my selfies. haha! ;)
I am beautiful because (like you!) I am a daughter of God. He loves me just the way that I am, and He can see my divine potential. I am beautiful because my amazing hubby tells me so ~ even when I look like the above picture! ;) I am beautiful because my children love me. They know they can come to many anytime day or night, & that I will help them with whatever they need. They know their momma will always be cheering them on from the sidelines! Always! :) I am beautiful because of who I am inside.
We all have things that we think make us not as pretty or uncomfortable. That’s why I love this talk from Susan W. Tanner. She shares a story from when she was a teenager & suffered with acne. She tried everything to clear it up but nothing worked. She said that it was difficult for her at that time to fully appreciate her body & feel confident when it just wasn’t cooperating! I have so been there & still am in some areas! ;) Her mother gave her the same advice over & over, “You must do everything you can to make your appearance pleasing, but the minute you walk out the door, forget yourself and start concentrating on others.” I love that! When we think about others more than ourselves we develop an inner beauty that glows. We shine! :) That’s how I want to be! Of course, before I go out in public I’ll get dressed, straighten my crazy hair, stick in my contacts & put on a little makeup, but after that I need to feel confident in who I am & focus on others. By doing that I feel so much better about myself & worry less about how I look. I’ll shine. :)
I also love this quote from Gordon B. Hinckley ~ “Of all the creations of the Almighty, there is none more beautiful, none more inspiring than a lovely daughter of God who walks in virtue with an understanding of why she should do so, who honors and respects her body as a thing sacred and divine, who cultivates her mind and constantly enlarges the horizon of her understanding, who nurtures her spirit with everlasting truth” (“Understanding Our Divine Nature,” Liahona, Feb. 2002, 24; “Our Responsibility to Our Young Women,” Ensign, Sept. 1988, 11). This is what I’m trying to teach my 2 daughters, & I hope they understand where true beauty comes from. I hope they always feel beautiful inside & out because they are. :)
“Happiness is the most attractive accessory a young woman can have.”
Don't stop here. Get clicking around - its a blog hop! Below are more brave and beautiful women bearing more than their natural beauty. They each have a little bit of their heart to share with you.
