Ginger Snap Crafts: 5 Reasons I’m Glad I Bought a Silhouette

5 Reasons I’m Glad I Bought a Silhouette

Hello! How are you? I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend! We did more work on our addition. I have the blisters to prove it, too! haha! ;) We are so close to painting it’s not even funny! If you follow me on instagram you saw my pillows that I’ve already picked out! Patience is not one of my virtues at all! ;) My poor hubby!

Anyways, while I’ve been waiting on the room to be finished I’ve had a little time to think about crafty things, of course! ;) One of my favorite tools (as you probably already know!) is my Silhouette machine. I seriously LOVE all of my Silhouettes. (Yes, I have more than one!) So today I’d love to share 5 reasons I’m glad I bought a Silhouette. (I’m also sharing 10 of my favorite fonts to cut with my Silhouette, too!) :)

Just a little background on my Silhouette obsession! haha! ;) It actually started as a vinyl obsession way back in 2006ish when vinyl became the new crafting craze, and I was hooked! I love vinyl. It is amazing! Seriously! You can stick in on the wall, make signs, stencils ~ the possibilities are endless! Anyways, I’m not sure exactly how much money I spent ordering vinyl lettering before I owned my first Silhouette, but it was lots & lots. So in 2010 I decided to buy my very first digital cutting machine. I did tons of research online & quickly settled on a Silhouette. Back in 2010 Silhouette was making the Silhouette SD. Do you remember that one? I still have this little machine, and it is awesome! Loved it, & I still do! It still works great 4 years later! As soon as Silhouette came out with the CAMEO in 2011 (I was blogging by then!) I ordered one of those. I loved the bigger cutting area. To make my collection complete I ordered the Silhouette Portrait this past summer. Out of all 3 I use my Portrait the most. I just love how easy it is to get out & use.

FYI: I have worked with Silhouette as an affiliate for just over a year, but I have purchased each of these machines with my own money. :)

1. I love the compatibility between machines & models. When Silhouette came out with the CAMEO I love how the new blades where interchangeable between machines. They didn’t make the Silhouette SD obsolete just because they came out with a newer model. That is awesome. Below you can see how the old blade looks (the one with the pink cap) & how the blades look today. They have a totally different design but both still work in the older model. Also the software, mats, sketch pens, power cords & more can be used between all models of Silhouettes. Nice! #SilhouetteCAMEO #SilhouettePortrait

2. I love that the Silhouette has the ability to cut any font that I have on my computer. This is the main reason I went with the Silhouette in the beginning! I love being able to design my own vinyl lettering, and I love having the freedom to chose any font I want to use. For fun I’ve rounded up some of my favorite fonts that I love to cut with my Silhouette. Enjoy! :)

3. Silhouette has the BEST customer service.  I have only had one customer service experience with Silhouette, & it was a big one! If you haven’t heard the story of Cole (my then 2 year old) vs. CAMEO go read it {HERE}. That experience alone made me a Silhouette fan for life! ;) I have also heard from others that Silhouette’s customer service can’t be beat! :)

4. Silhouette has the amazing print & cut feature. You can see an easy print & cut tutorial right {HERE}. This feature is so cool! Somehow the Silhouette can “see” & cut out shapes that you have printed. Pretty amazing stuff! #printandcut
