Hello! Happy Monday to all of YOU! :) I hope you had a wonderful weekend. We finally had some warm weather. Yay! It was awesome! Today I have a quick tutorial for this super cute & easy washi tape photo plaque. This would make a great gift for a special mom or grandma in your life for Mother’s Day which is coming up pretty quick! ;) So keep reading to see how I made it.
Of course, you’ll need a few supplies to get started. ;)
For this project you will need:
wood plaque (I found this one at Hobby Lobby.)
acrylic paint
foam paint brushes
decoupage
adhesive washi tape sheets from We R Memory Keepers
scissors
crayon
typing paper
metal clip
small screwdriver
vinyl lettering (I found this image in the Silhouette online store.)
OK ~ now we are ready to get started! ;) First you’ll paint your wood plaque & let it dry. Then you’ll use a piece of typing paper & a crayon to trace the outline of the plaque. Just rub the crayon around the edge of the plaque, & it makes the perfect outline.
Cut that out & then use the pattern to trace the outline onto your adhesive washi tape sheet to fit your board. Then you’ll cut it out. Aren’t the washi tape sheets amazing? It’s like washi tape but much bigger! I love it! :)
Then you’ll just remove the paper backing before applying it to your board.
Apply the adhesive washi sheet to your board, & make sure that you smooth out any bubbles with your hand.
Then you’ll apply one coat of decoupage to seal the washi tape to your board.
Doesn’t that look amazing? You can easily get such a fun pattern using the washi tape! It comes in lots of different colors & patterns, too. TIP: You can find the adhesive washi tape sheets at weronthenet.com, & when you use the code GINGER you can get 20% off. Yay! :)
After your decoupage has dried you’ll attach your clip to the top of your board with a tiny screwdriver. It was a little tricky, but I managed to get it on there. haha! ;)
Then you’ll apply your vinyl lettering to the bottom of the board. TIP: You can get a tutorial on how to apply vinyl lettering right {HERE}.
Then you’ll clip one of your favorite pictures & set your plaque out on an easel! So adorable! I almost can’t handle the cuteness! ;) Do you have your Mother’s Day gifts planned out yet? What kind of gifts do you like to receive? I’d love to hear. :)
