Ginger Snap Crafts: Tie Dyed Scarf {tutorial} + blog hop #ScarfWeek2015

Tie Dyed Scarf {tutorial} + blog hop #ScarfWeek2015

Good morning! I am so excited to be taking part in the 2nd Annual Scarf Week hosted by The Thinking Closet & Tried & True. I’m also honored to be partnering up with 13 other bloggers today to share some fun dyed, painted & stamped scarf tutorials with all of you! I’ll be sharing links to their scarfs at the end of this post. Be sure to stop by their blogs today, too for some amazing scarf inspiration. :) Today I’d love to show you how I made this “tie” dyed scarf. I love the fun colors, & you won’t believe how easy it was to make. So let’s get started. :)

I put the word “tie” in parenthesis because you will be using tie dye to dye this scarf. You will not be tying anything though! ;)

You’ll need a few supplies:
white t-shirt
fabric scissors
tie dye kit
ziploc bags, quart size

First, you will lay your t-shirt out flat. Cut the bottom of the shirt into long strips with fabric scissors.

Next get your strips wet by putting them in a bowl of water or in the sink.

Wring out the t-shirt strips getting out as much water as you can, & then you’ll place two strips in each bag & seal.

Next put a squirt or two of tie dye color into the bags. Make sure the dye goes through the whole strip. You don’t want any white splotches. ;) Keep the strips inside the ziploc bag overnight. Rinse in running water, then wash & dry on gentle cycle.

To wear this scarf loop it one or two times around the neck.

I love the pop of color. :)
