Good morning! Do you have a favorite recipe that reminds you of home? I do! Growing up my mom would always make her famous pound cake! Even today when I go home there is usually a pound cake sitting in her kitchen on the counter. Yum! Nothing is better than a piece of pound cake inside a tall glass of milk. Have you tried it that way? It’s good! So today I am spilling the beans & sharing My Mama’s Pound Cake recipe with all of you! I love this recipe because it uses ingredients that you already have on hand ~ eggs, milk, sugar & flour. I also would like to introduce you to DairyPure milk which is perfect in this & in all your favorite recipes. So let’s get started! :)
First, let me tell you a little bit about DairyPure. It is the only milk backed by an exclusive Five-Point Purity Promise:
1. No artificial growth hormones*
2. All milk is tested for antibiotics
3. Continually quality tested to ensure purity
4. Only from cows fed a healthy diet
5. Cold shipped fresh from your local dairy
*No significant difference has been shown between milk derived from cows treated with the artificial growth hormone rbST and non-rbST-treated cows.
DairyPure milk provides eight essential nutrients ~ calcium, protein, vitamins A, D and B12, riboflavin, phosphorus and potassium ~ & is continually quality tested to ensure consumers enjoy fresh, quality milk from farm to fridge at every occasion. Yum! Now let’s get to that recipe. :)
You will need:
3 cups sugar
1 cup of butter, softened
4 eggs
1 teaspoon of vanilla
¼ teaspoon of baking soda
3 cups flour
1 cup milk
Grease & flour a pound cake tube pan or 2 loaf pans. You can use also use wax paper or foil paper on the bottom of the pan to help prevent sticking.
Then mix sugar, butter, eggs, vanilla & baking soda together with electric beater. Then alternately add (a little at a time) 3 cups of flour& 1 cup of milk.
Bake for 1 and ½ hours at 350º or until a toothpick comes out clean in the center of the cake. Watch closely.
After you remove the cake from the oven let cool & then remove it from the pan.
Then I iced my cake using the same icing I used in my strawberry shortcake cake.
Now the only thing left to do is serve this rich & yummy cake with some fresh fruit & milk, of course. ;)
