My kiddos love to dress up & play! So we were super excited when Sprout, the 24-hour preschool channel parents and kids share together, contacted us about helping out with the launch of The Chica Show Season 2. The new season of The Chica Show will include all new ways for you and your kiddos to dress up & play, too! Wahoo! :)
Sprout sent us a box of goodies to make some dress up costumes together! My kids were so excited, & they loved helping to make their own costumes. :) This morning I’d love to share how we made this no sew dinosaur costume for my 6 year old. So keep reading to see how we did it! :)
Sprout sent us a box of goodies to make some dress up costumes together! My kids were so excited, & they loved helping to make their own costumes. :) This morning I’d love to share how we made this no sew dinosaur costume for my 6 year old. So keep reading to see how we did it! :)
Here is what we saw when we opened our box from Sprout. Fun, huh??!! :) It had instructions & everything we needed to make 2 costumes. Yay!
One of them was a dinosaur hoodie. You can also find all the instructions & the supply list to make the dinosaur hoodie over on Sprout. For their version they actually sewed on the dinosaur “scales”, but I took the easy way out & came up with a no sew version! It was so easy!
For our version you’ll need:
- a hoodie
- felt
- scissors
- hot glue gun
- glue
- a paper triangle to use for a pattern
First you’ll use your paper triangle as a pattern to cut out felt triangles. You’ll need 20 or so felt triangles.
Then fold your hoodie in half right down the middle.
Then I hot glued a row of “scales” down the back, rotating the colors in a random pattern.
Then I flipped the hoodie over & hot glued another row of “scales” between the ones that I just put on.
Rooooaaaarrrr!!! I think it turned out so cute! My daughters been wearing it everywhere even though it’s soooooo hot outside! Silly girl! ;)
We also made a super hero cape & mask for my youngest son! As you can tell he had fun pretending to fight the giant dinosaur! haha! :)
