Hello! We only have 3 weeks until school starts! Eek! Summer flew by didn’t it? Well, my kiddos have been busy making their school list, deciding what school clothes they need & starting to get everything organized for back to school. My oldest daughter is going to be a sophomore in high school! (Gulp!) How did that happen? We were talking the other day, and comparing notes on high school life. ha! Boy! High school has changed since I was in school. Back when I was in school we had books & pencils, no cell phones or internet, & we rarely used computers. Now most of their homework & assignments are done online. This makes having a laptop a must have for going back to school! We also did some brainstorming, & we came up with 5 Backpack Must Haves for the high school student. Let’s get started! :)

I know this will be a great computer for high school & beyond! So our first must have for her backpack is an affordable, dependable & super functional laptop.
The second must have is a planner. This is just a simple one I found at Walmart. I added some cute vinyl to fancy it up. I think it’s important to teach kids to write things down, how to make a to do list & how important it is to get things done on time & be where they need to be when they need to be there. A planner is great for helping your kiddo learn some organization skills!
The third must have is folders. While kids today don’t have tons of papers to keep track of, they do have some. My daughter is in concert band, jazz band & show choir. She needs folders to keep all of her music organized. She also needs a folder for her schedule & other important papers. These are the plain plastic folders you can find in the back to school section. I love the plastic ones, since they’ll last all year. Again, I just added some vinyl lettering to make them cute. ;)
The fourth must have is probably not a surprise! This must have is my daughter’s cell phone. We definitely did NOT have these when I was in school. How did we survive??!! ha! ;) Make sure you get a backpack that has some kind of cell phone pocket.
The last must have in my daughter’s backpack is paper & something to write with! Some things don’t change! Sometimes you have to write things down! ;)
An easy way to personalize a binder is to slide in some cute scrapbook paper! Too cute! :)
