I made these stylish Capri Sun clippies using Capri Sun pouches as part of a sponsored post for Socialstars. #CapriSunMomFactor
Hello! It’s almost time for school! Yay! That means cute outfits, brand new school supplies, sipping on a Capri Sun from your lunch kit & having lots of fun. :) My kiddos love Capri Sun drinks, and I love that Capri Sun products have no artificial flavors, colors, dyes or preservatives. That’s why you see them in my kid’s lunches. Annnnd I have to admit my crafty side LOVES that after the kiddos are finished drinking them we can make something out of the empty pouches! ha! ;) Today I’m excited to show you how to make these easy Capri Sun clippies using empty Capri Sun pouches & a few other supplies. Aren’t they adorable? They are perfect for back to school, don’t you think? ;) So keep reading to see how easy they are to make. :)
This would be a great craft to do at a party or at a sleepover. Your girls & all of their friends are going to want to make some of these clippies! They are so cute & stylish! Metallics are so in right now, too! ;)
After your kiddos are finished drinking their Capri Sun drinks have them save their pouches. For each clippie you will need two pouches.
For this project you’ll also need a few other supplies:
mini silver brads
alligator clips
hot glue & glue gun
bow die cut
die cutter
cardstock
glue dots or adhesive squares
scissors
Step one: First you will take your empty Capri Sun pouch & cut straight up the edges on each side with scissors. Rinse with warm water & soap. Let dry.
Step 2: Using a bow die you will cut out both pieces of your bow with a die cutting machine. If you’ve never used a die cutting machine before let me explain what it is. :) A die is a thin piece of metal, & when you run it through a die cutting machine by turning a handle you can cut out paper, material & even thin metal. You can find dies in lots of different shapes & sizes. Just do a quick search online to find out more about dies & die cutters. Trust me ~ they are awesome. They are perfect to use with Capri Sun pouches. The possibilities are endless! You can see a more detailed die cutting tutorial right {HERE}.
Tip: Since the Capri Sun pouches are quite a bit thicker than paper. I had to use two piece of cardstock on top of the die & Capri Sun pouch as I ran it through the machine along with the cutting platform & mat. This gave it the little extra pressure it needed to cut out the shapes for my bow.
Tip: Since I wanted to make solid silver bows I used two pouch backs for my clippies. If you want the label to show you’d only need to use one pouch per clippie. It’s up to you. :)
Step 3: Next you will assemble your bow. You’ll fold in both sides of the bow loops on the longer piece that you cut, & then secure them with a mini brad through the hole in the middle & with the holes on the end of each loop. It will look like this:
Step 4: Then using the same brad you’ll attach the back of your bow (2nd piece). So now both pieces of your bow are stuck together. It will look like this:
Step 5: Next you will loop the little tag around the middle of your bow to create the center. Secure it with a glue dot or adhesive square on the back. You are done with your bow. Cute!
Step 6: To finish up you will hot glue an alligator clip to the back of your bow. That’s it! :)
Aren’t these bows just the sweetest thing ever? Plus they are a total upcycle! So that’s a win win for being crafty & helping the environment. Awesome! :)
