Mudroom Bench Makeover

Hello! How was your Thanksgiving holiday? Wonderful, I hope! Ours was fantastic….I ate a little too much, but that’s OK, right? ;) Earlier last week (while cleaning the house getting ready for company) I decided to redo a bench we’ve had in our mudroom/laundry room. This little bench just didn’t fit in with the bright, fun decor we have going on in there! I decided to use Americana Decor Maxx Gloss in Aqua Waters. (This high gloss, durable paint is also available in 19 other high-gloss, trendy colors.) So keep reading to see how easy this bench was to transform!

Americana Decor Maxx Gloss provides a brand new & superior, high-gloss sheen that brings an almost lacquer-like finish. Until now, this level of gloss finish has only been available in aerosol spray paints. Spray paints cause over-spray and must be used in a well-ventilated area for safety. Definitely not inside like where I painted my bench! Maxx Gloss now offers you & me the ability to add a high-gloss finish with a water-based, non-toxic, brush-on formula. Yay!

Americana Decor Maxx Gloss also has an extended open time that allows optimum flow & leveling for an ultra smooth finish. This paint has a durable, hard finish which, once fully cured, is highly resistant to household cleaning solutions which was exactly what I needed for our mudroom bench! It can get a little dirty in there. ha!

I didn’t have to do much prep work at all on our old bench. I just cleaned any dust off with a damp cloth, & then I was ready to start painting. I used a foam roller brush to apply the paint, & the paint went on super smooth. Once it was dried to the touch I applied another coat. I probably could of stopped with two coats of paint but I went ahead & painted one more coat.

Even after the first coat (above & below) you can see how well the Maxx Gloss covered the dark brown mahogany. The coverage is really amazing!

I love the smooth, shiny finish! It’s looks so modern & bright. I love it in our mudroom!
