Hello! As most of you know (if you follow me on facebook or instagram) we have had more than our fair share of snow days lately! Whew! ;) That means lots of extra time hanging around the house. ;) I’ve been working super hard in my kitchen getting it all organized, deep cleaned & making a few updates that made a big difference! Paint is always my go to when I want some quick changes around my house. So first I repainted the walls in my kitchen a much lighter color, & then I grabbed some of the brand new Americana Decor Chalky Finish paint to add some fun accents. So keep reading to see what I did & to find out where you can pick up some of this brand new paint! :)
For my kitchen projects I used the Americana Decor Chalky Finish paint in Romance & Carbon colors. I also used the Crème Wax over the top of the paint to help give it a more durable finish. I LOVE that this paint comes in so many colors! (Check them all out below!) Pastels & rich dark colors are all available. Right now you can find this paint exclusively at The Home Depot.
The first project I did for my kitchen was to make this huge sign to hang over my kitchen window. I used the Americana Chalky Finish paint in carbon to makeover this sign that has been in my attic forever. ha! I just gave it a couple of coats of paint, distressed the edges with sandpaper & then added the vinyl lettering. Do you remember my really long piece of vinyl? Yep, this was it! ;)
For my next project I grabbed this stool from the garage. It had seen better days! haha! I had used it when I painted my kitchen so it had drips of paint all over it! So I cleaned it up with a rag, & it was ready to paint. With the new chalky finish paint you don’t need to do much prep work. :)
I put 2 coats of the romance chalky finish paint letting the paint dry 2 hours between coats.
After it was dried I used sandpaper again to distress the edges really well. Then I added some vinyl on the top. What a difference paint can make! ;)
I’ll be sharing more kitchen updates in the next few weeks!
Tomorrow I’ll be showing you our organization wall makeover! :)
Do you have any home improvement projects your working on? I’d love to hear! :)
