Yesterday my daughter & I had the opportunity to visit the Bentonville Film Festival in beautiful downtown Bentonville, Arkansas. It was a beautiful spring day here in Northwest Arkansas. This is the second year for the festival that celebrates women & diversity in the media & film industry. It takes a lot of manpower & sponsors to put together this amazing event. The BFF is sponsored in part by Scotts® & EcoScraps®. I love that companies like this are supporting women & diversity. I also loved checking out their amazing Step and Repeat Wall. Isn’t it gorgeous? I think I need one in my backyard! ;)
I also kind of fell in love with how they planted their garden in these large metal container with LABELS! You know how much I love labeling things! ha! I might need to recreate this on our back patio! These veggies are planted using EcoScraps® potting mix. Have you heard of EcoScraps®? Now this stuff is pretty cool!
EcoScraps® was started by two college friends who were sitting at an all you can eat buffet one day. They noticed how much food was going to waste, & they wondered what they could do to prevent all this wasted food from going into our landfills. One thing led to another, & they came up with the idea to use recycled food waste to produce nutrient-rich garden products. Sooooo smart! So instead of clogging up landfills, this leftover food waste is helping to grow healthy plants & helping the environment in a sustainable way. Yay!
EcoScraps® had a super cool display in the Sponsor Village. :) Check out that wooden dump truck! If you are familiar with downtown Bentonville, the Sponsor Village is located by Lawrence Plaza & across the street in the Compton Gardens parking lot. It’s a wonderful family friendly place to stop by this weekend during the festival. Be sure to stop by the EcoScraps® display & make your free make & take! You can plant a dill seed, & then wait to see it sprout in about 2 weeks! So fun! I loved their quote ~ “Yesterday’s food waste, tomorrow’s garden.” :)
Another fun fact about EcoScraps® is that they are partners with Feed America & other organizations to recycle consumable food from local food banks & schools. EcoScraps® is also working on ways to turn recycled food items into animal food & even energy. From meat to bread to fruits & veggies, EcoScraps® is working to recycle it all. I love their example to all of us! It makes me want to start a compost pile!
I hope you & your family will stop by the Bentonville Film Festival this week & weekend. It runs through May 8th. You can find so many fun family friendly events, films & concerts to attend. Annnnnd maybe you’ll spot a celebrity or two! ;)
BFF also makes a great mother & daughter outing! PS The food downtown is pretty amazing! If you need some restaurant recommendations, I can hook you up! :)
When you are downtown be sure to check out the gorgeous Scotts® & EcoScraps® Step and Repeat Wall. It makes a great photo op for the family! You’ll feel like a celebrity! Let me know if you stop by! :)
Thank you so much stopping by my blog!
If this is your first time visiting I’d love to keep in touch.
