Ginger Snap Crafts: Fighting Hunger Together

Fighting Hunger Together

This post brought to you by Walmart. All opinions are 100% mine.

Walmart is working with Feeding America and ten of the most recognizable food companies in America this spring to launch the third chapter of the Fighting Hunger Together initiative. Vote and volunteer to fight hunger this spring with Walmart. This time they will be focusing on reducing hunger across the country. According to the USDA, more than 50 million Americans live in food insecure households, and more than 16 million of those impacted are children. That is a staggering number!

Food is something many of us take for granted especially my kiddos! Fortunately, we have always had plenty of food in our fridge & pantry. It's hard to imagine going to the cupboards & not having anything there! Most of our discussions about food happens when we are eating a meal together as a family! Sometimes my kiddos will turn their noses up at certain foods or waste food or complain at what we have to eat!  I think it is important to talk to our children about those that are less fortunate than us, how we should be grateful for what we do have and how we can help those that are in need. Fighting Hunger Together we can make a huge difference.

Walmart & the Fighter Hunger Together initiative are making it easy for all of us to get involved in fighting hunger in America.

The Fighting Hunger Together initiative will deliver $3 million in grants for hunger programs and generate millions of meals for local Feeding America food banks and their partner agencies across the U.S. between April 1 and April 30. You can join this fight against hunger in two ways:

First, by going online, Americans have the opportunity to join the fight against hunger and help distribute grants to local communities across the country by voting for YOUR local food bank in your area of the country.  The top 100 organization with the most votes will share $3 million dollars in grants to help fund their hunger relief programs.
Our family went on-line to vote for our local food bank, and it was so easy to do.  We were so glad we could Vote and volunteer to fight hunger this spring with Walmart on their website. We just clicked the VOTE NOW button.
Then it took us to a facebook app that allowed us to search for our local food bank.
Then we voted. You can vote once per day. :) So easy! Remember the top 100 get to share a lot of funds to help fight hunger.
Another way you can help is by volunteering at a local hunger relief organization, donating food or donating money to a local church or charity.
There are so many things that we can do to stop hunger in America.  I hope you'll get involved.
I'd love to hear why you are voting & how you are volunteering against hunger! :)
