Did you hear the news that went live today? Cricut has another ah-mazing machine to help make even more of our crafty dreams come true! ha! If you didn’t hear, Cricut released their brand new Cricut Mug Press today. Eek! The Cricut Mug Press is a new way to create DIY & personalized mugs in minutes. It has a one touch setting, just right temperature control & an auto cut off feature. So you don’t have to worry if you left it on, once you leave the house! I love that! There are several ways to make customize mugs with this new machine, but today I’d love to share one way ~ how to make custom mugs with Cricut Infusible Ink sheets, your Cricut machine & Cricut Mug Press. Let’s get started! :)
For this project you will need:
Cricut Mug Press
Cricut machine (Maker, Explore Air 2 or Joy)
Cricut Infusible Ink (made especially for the Mug Press)
Cricut Mug
lint roller
this Design Space file
heat resistant tape
Cricut EasyPress mat or hot pad
First, you will cut out your design with your Cricut machine. I did two different colors of Cricut Infusible Ink, and then I pieced them together carefully.
Next, use a lint roller to clean your mug. When working with Cricut Infusible Ink you don’t want any lint or dirt interfering with the ink’s infusing abilities. You want it as clean as possible. Also, make sure you hands are nice & dry when working with Cricut Infusible Ink. You don’t want the ink getting on your hands.
Next, wrap your design around your mug. Make sure the infusible ink sheet is completely flat against the surface of your mug. Secure it into place using heat resistant tape.
Next place your mug inside the Cricut Mug Press. Close the lever. The machine does everything else for you!
When the mug press beeps, it’s time to remove your mug. Be careful! Only touch the mug by the handle because the body of the mug will be extremely hot. Place on a protective surface. Let it cool completely. It may take the mug about 15-30 minutes to completely cool.
After the mug has cooled, remove the infusible ink paper. Leaving your fabulous design behind! So cool! :)
I love the watercolor design of this Cricut Infusible Ink. So pretty! Now it’s time to enjoy my new mug! :)
