Ginger Snap Crafts: Peel-A-Way Banana Card with Cricut Maker {tutorial}

Good morning! :) When Cricut launched the Cricut Maker 2 years ago, they made a promise to come out with more tools & more materials. They have not disappointed! :) Over the last few years the Maker’s arsenal of tools has grown & along with that creators (like you & me) have had the chance to master new crafts & create things we never knew we could. It’s truly ah-mazing! These tools are all possible, & can be used only with Maker, because it was specially designed with an Adaptive Tool System. Recently Cricut released 4 more tools (Eek!!!) made especially for the Maker using this system. Annnnnd I can’t wait to tell you all about them. I used two of those tools to make this cute Peel-a-way Banana Card. Let’s get started. I’ve got a lot to tell you! :)

The Adaptive Tool System that the Cricut Maker utilizes brings together three major technologies that give the Cricut Maker professional class cutting versatility and performance.

1. The Maker delivers 10 times (4 kg) or more cutting force than the Explore line.
2. The Maker uses a sophisticated steering system to actively control the direction of the blade at all times.
3. The Cricut Maker tests to be sure you are using the correct blade before it starts cutting, & it tells you to change it, if not. (I love, love this feature!)

Like I said earlier, Cricut has just released 4 new tools for the Cricut Maker. Eek! Now we have the wavy blade, perforation blade, fine debossing tip & engraving tip all available to help us create, create, create! :) Each of these tools are part of the Maker’s QuickSwap Toolset, so you can quickly & easily move between tools as you complete projects. These new tools allow you to find even more ways to create, such as engraving & debossing, & expands the variety of materials that you can use. Now you can even use materials such as metal with the Maker! So fun! :)

Here’s the breakdown (from Cricut) for all of these fabulous new tools!

Basic Perforation Blade - Create finely perforated lines for any design:

Alright, let me show you how I made this cute project. For this project I used the wavy blade & perforation blade. :)

You will need:
Design Space bow cut file
Design Space banana card
Cricut Maker perforation blade
Cricut Maker wavy blade
Cricut Maker
Cricut StandardGrip cutting mat
Cricut pen (black)
Cricut fine tip blade
cardstock
patterned paper
scissors
hot glue & glue gun
glue stick
gift box (I found this one in the Target dollar spot.)
banana flavored candy or treat

Let me show you how easy it is to swap out blades using the QuickSwap Housing. You simply press the button on top. It releases the blade.

Then you pop the new blade into place. Literally takes 2 seconds to do! Next, you’ll put your tool into your Maker.

Close the doors, and you are good to go! :)

I made a couple of bows using the wavy blade. Look close & you can see the decorative wavy lines. After I cut these strips out, I curled them with a pair of scissors and then hot glued them together in a circle making a cute bow.

Next, I cut out the banana card. I found this card in Design Space. I couldn’t resist! I used the perforation blade to make the cute tear away piece that reveals the appealing message! ;)

You simply glue all the pieces together with a glue stick or other adhesive.

I attached the bow & card to a gift bag full of banana flavored candy, and it would make the perfect treat for my hubby. ha! ;) I always enjoy a good pun! :)
