This is a sponsored post on behalf of Habitat for Humanity’s Home is the Key campaign & its corporate partners, and I am so excited to be a part of this campaign because I believe so strongly in their purpose & what they stand for. Ensuring everyone has a safe place to call home is so important!
Good morning! Did you know that nearly 19 million U.S. households spend more than half of their paychecks on housing costs? Gulp! That can create a huge burden that often requires many families to make difficult choices between their housing, healthcare, education, transportation & even grocery bills. Back in 2017, Habitat for Humanity’s Home is the Key campaign was created. This campaign aims to demonstrate how a decent, affordable homes can create a better life for families & individuals. When communities work with families to build homes that are affordable, safe & comfortable, miracles can happen! It can truly change lives & futures! Annnnd I am so excited to share this message with all of you & share some easy ways you can help! Let’s get started! :)
Meet my crazy family! ;) This is a picture we took last week on our front steps. Yep, we do silly best when it comes to picture taking! ha! ;) Our family can so relate to so many of the families that Habitat for Humanity works with every single day. We know how much hard work goes into building your own home. We also know the satisfaction of putting your own blood, sweat & tears (literally!) into your own home. Look at this very spot just under two years ago (see below!). How’s that for rustic? ;)
The picture above was taken (almost in the exact same spot as our family picture was taken) just after we had the footings for our foundation poured for our very own home!
Slowly, but surely we watched our home take shape from the foundation to the framing!
It was amazing watching everything take shape! Once the foundation, framing, electricity, rough plumbing & sheetrock went in by contractors, the rest was up to us! :)
For example, my husband roofed the entire house all by himself! Yep! He’s my super hero! ;)
My kiddos helped as well from installing the insulation, painting, cleaning, caulking (& more caulking!) & helping install the windows & doors. It was definitely a family affair! It was one of the hardest things we have ever tackled as a family! It brought us closer together from the fights and the tears and being tired and just wanting to be finished. ha! We also had fun moments, high fives, smiles, excitement and lots of satisfaction of doing a job well & learning life long skills that my kiddos can use in their own families someday. We learned that when we worked together, we could truly do anything! We also learned that no matter where we were, when we are together it is home! Being home is truly our happy place. Home is the key! :)
This year, O-Cedar will donate $1 to Habitat for Humanity for every ProMist® MAX Microfiber Spray Mop sold at any U.S. retailer from April 1 to June 15, up to a maximum of $250,000. Isn’t that amazing!? Annnd let me tell you, you need this mop! This mop helps you clean up your floors super fast. It comes with a two-sided microfiber pad that grabs dust & dirt, and the red scrubbing zones tackle tough floor messes. When one side is dirty, you can flip it over & keep on cleaning. These pads are NOT disposable mop pads. You can wash them over & over, & then re-use them instead of throwing them away after a single use. Yay! They velcro off & on! So simple! :)
Just a note: This microfiber mop pad is safe to use on all hard floors, including tile, laminate (like we have!) & hardwood. For best results, O-Cedar recommends replacing your ProMist MAX mop pad refill every 3-6 months of regular household cleaning.
This mop also comes with a refillable tank that can be refilled with your favorite cleaner & water. You simply press the lever on the mop handle & it squirts out the cleaner on the floor & then you simply go over it with the mop. You’ll have clean floors in no time at all! :)
Remember O-Cedar is proud to support Habitat for Humanity to help families build strength, stability & self-reliance through shelter. They will donate $1 for every ProMist® MAX Microfiber Spray Mop sold to Habitat for Humanity. To see where you can purchase one, visit their site here. I would love to see every family in a safe, affordable place to call home. Right now, in the United States a full-time employee earning minimum wage can not afford a one-bedroom apartment virtually anywhere. Even two such jobs won’t rent a two-bedroom apartment in 34 states & the District of Columbia. By helping a family find comfortable, safe, affordable housing, you can change a family forever!
Children of homeowners make fewer visits to the emergency room for routine health problems & are more likely to succeed in school. Affordable housing can improve outcomes of families by freeing up family resources for nutritious food & health care expenditure & other necessities. Having more resources available & having a place to call home gives you the simple luxury of spending more time together as a family. Please consider joining this campaign today! YOU can make a difference! :) #homeisthekey
