Everything You Need to Know About the Cricut Scoring Wheel™

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Cricut. The opinions and text are all mine.

Good morning! Earlier this week I kicked off a new series called Everything You Need to Know About the Cricut _______________. Over the next little while, I’ll be filling in the blank with some amazing Cricut machine tools, gadgets & more. Let me know what you’d like to hear more about! :)

First, I told you all about the rotary blade. You can see that post here. Now let’s move on the the equally fabulous Cricut Scoring Wheel™. Today I am going to share Everything You Need to Know About the Cricut Scoring Wheel. The new scoring wheel is like 2 tools in one with 2 interchangeable tips depending on your material. It also has up to 10X the pressure of Cricut’s best-selling Cricut Explore family of machines & old stylus. With your Cricut Maker AND the Scoring Wheel, in just one pass can make crisp, clean creases & lines for professional results on every single crease-and-fold project you tackle. You’ll no longer have to worry about whether your score lines are deep enough, & you can say goodbye to cracks when folding coated materials & hello to nice clean lines. Let’s get started! :)

FYI: The scoring wheel is part of the Cricut Maker Adaptive Toolset system, & it can be used exclusively with the Cricut Maker.

To enjoy your scoring wheel to the fullest you’ll need a few supplies in addition to your Cricut Maker.

      LightGrip machine mat
      StandardGrip machine mat
      cardstock
      sparkle paper
      shimmer paper
      chipboard
      kraft board
      paper crafting set

Tip: When you are using the scoring wheel put the “pretty” side of your paper face down on your mat. This will help make the lines even cleaner with less cracking.

The scoring wheel is your must-have tool to get extra-deep score lines & that perfect finish on everyday crafting materials such as paper, cardstock & more. It is a paper crafters dream come true. :) You can get creative & make amazing paper projects from finished tags, cards, gift boxes, paper flowers, ah-mazing 3-D home décor & so much more. :) If your paper crafts have any type of crease-and-fold, then you need to get your hands on the scoring wheel combo. These wheels have up to 10X more pressure than the Scoring Stylus & the patented wheel design takes on basic & specialty materials & makes it look easy. Let’s look at these little wheels! :)

The scoring wheel comes with two wheels. The first one is a single scoring wheel. It makes one crease per pass. Your Cricut Maker will let you know exactly which wheel to use when scoring your paper projects. So you don’t have to worry about which wheel to use. The single wheel makes a deep single-line score perfect for uncoated light materials like crepe paper, light cardstock and even acetate.

The double scoring wheel creates two deep, parallel score lines that are ideal for coated, heavier materials like poster board, kraft board and cardboard.

Changing these wheels out is super easy. You simple click the little button on top of the wheel. It releases the wheel, & then you can swap it out. They can only go back on one way. So easy peasy! :) You can see all the materials both scoring wheels can be used for by going here.

Then you simply pop it into your Adaptive Tool System on your Cricut Maker & close the door.

You can get your hands on the Scoring Wheel and Double Scoring Wheel today! They are both available on cricut.com right now. :)

FYI: You might of already noticed if you already own a Cricut Maker, but Design Space will now default to the new Scoring Wheel setting when you're making a project with score lines. You can still use the old Scoring Stylus by choosing the Scoring Stylus setting. Buuuut once you get your hands on a new Cricut Scoring Wheel you won’t want to go back! ;) Just a note this picture is from my old Cricut Explore Air 2. You can only use the new scoring wheel with the Cricut Maker. :)

My favorite part of the Cricut Maker is the Adaptive Tool System. I can’t wait to see what they come up with next! :)
