This post is brought to you by DecoArt.
Good morning! When I was a little girl my grandfather had a bench at his house. I loved to climb on it, sit on it each time we visited & open & close the lid (again and again!). ha! It’s one of those things that brings back memories of my grandfather’s house. When he passed away a few years ago, I got to take the bench home with me. He used it as a firewood box, so it was in need of some TLC. When I first got it home, I gave it a couple of coats of chalky finish paint in a cream color, but I wanted to go a little bit more bold. So let me show you how easy this Bench Makeover with DecoArt was. Let’s get started! :)
You can see what this bench looked like before in my jumbo growth chart tutorial post here.
I’ve been wanting to add more color to our home, and blue has been the color of choice lately! ha! What color are you crushing on? I also wanted to try out the Americana Decor Satin Enamels line from DecoArt. Just check out all of these pretty colors! Annnnnnnnd no sanding or priming are needed! Wahoo! :) I picked the Dark Denim. Which color do you like?
From DecoArt:
Satin enamel-like paint formulated to adhere to even the slickest of surfaces without a lot of priming and prepping. Satin is classically popular as a finish for walls, cabinets, furniture, and more. This formula was specially designed for revitalizing old cabinets. It gives them a durable finish making it ideal for high-use kitchen areas. No need to prime or sand before using.
Satin Enamels comes in 21 intermixable colors in an easy-to-use 8 oz, wide-mouth jar. One jar provides two-coat coverage on approximately 20 square feet.
- Smooth brushability
- Minimizes grain raising on wood
- Non-toxic
- Soap and water clean-up
- Made in the USA
Painting with this paint was so, so simple! I just cleaned my bench off with a damp cloth. We use it as a shoe bench, so it was a little bit dirty. ;)
Then I used a foam roller brush to paint my bench. Two coats were plenty. I did a third just because! haha!
I really love how it turned out! It’s so nice & BLUE! :)
