This huge pallet wreath sign was first seen over at Craftaholics Anonymous.
Annnd it was is so simple to put together. Let’s get started!
Supplies:
- 1x6 (cut into four 24 inch pieces)
- wood screws
- 2 contrasting chalky finish paint colors (I used a peachy red & a cream color.)
- vinyl stencil- I used this image from (affiliate link) Silhouette.
- roller & foam paint brushes
- Mod Podge
- hand sander &sand paper
- crème wax
- X-ACTO knife
First, I painted my boards the color I wanted the wreath to be. Note: The boards are all loose at this point. I haven't screwed them together just yet.
I laid my boards out on the floor exactly how I wanted them to be. Then I carefully applied my vinyl stencil right on top. I was careful not to shift my boards. Tip: To make a stencil this big I actually cut it out in two sections & then lined them up together.
Next, I used an X-ACTO knife to cut the vinyl stencil apart where the boards met.
Next, I applied a layer of Mod Podge. Then let dry. This will help seal the edges of the stencil so that no paint seeps underneath when I paint over the stencil.
Next, I painted the cream color right over the top of my stencil. I did two coats. Let it dry slightly (not all the way). Then I removed my stencil leaving the wreath behind.
Next, it was time to assemble my pallet sign. I used some wood scraps & screws on the back of my sign to hold it all together. Then I gave the front of the sign a light distressing with my sander.
The last thing I did was give my whole sign a light coat of dark creme wax. I rubbed most of it off with an old rag. Let dry.
All done!
