Good morning! Boy! This summer has been busy for our family. How about yours? We have been on the road for just about half the summer it seems! Being in the car brings it’s own challenges, and you don’t want to get left in a pinch if something comes up! That why I love putting together a car survival kit when our family hits the road. This little kit is so handy! Annnnnd it is so easy to put together with just a few supplies and your Cricut Joy (or other Cricut) machine. Let me show you how! :)

The first thing you need to do is make a list of things you *might* need while on the road. Of course, every family and situation is different. So think about what your family might need to make your drive go more smoothly. For our family this is what I included:

mints
scissors
safety pins
nail file
bandages
lip balm
mints
glue
sanitizing hand wipes
tools
flashlight
phone charger
medicine

Let’s get started!

For this project you will need:
Cricut Joy
Cricut Joy Smart Vinyl
Cricut Vinyl scraps
Starter Tool Set
Cricut Joy StandardGrip Mat
Cricut Transfer Tape
small compartment box (I found this one for a dollar at the dollar store!)
supplies for your kit

First, I used this Design Space file to cut out my labels with my Cricut Joy. I told you all about the Cricut Joy here. Cricut Joy is the perfect machine to use up all those vinyl scraps you been holding on to. I’m not the only one that has a ton of those, right? ;)

Cricut also makes Smart Materials that are made just for the Cricut Joy! When you use these Smart Materials you do not need to use a cutting mat while cutting your vinyl! I love that! :)

After you have everything cut out you will weed your vinyl. Weeding is simply removing the excess vinyl from the design.

Then you will put some transfer tape on top of your designs.

Now for the fun part! Applying the vinyl! :)

Remove the backing paper. Place your vinyl decal where you want it, and then slowly remove the transfer tape.

Leaving your fun design behind! Here’s how it looked with all the labels in place. :)

The last label I put on was this cute Car Survival Kit decal right on the front of the box.

Fill your box with all your goodies! All done!

This cute car survival kit fits perfectly in my glove box. It’s easy to grab if I need it, and stays safely stored away when I don’t! :)
