Good morning! How are you keeping busy (& having fun!) as a family right now? I love to keep my kiddos busy (and OFF electronics!). Annnnd the best way to do that is to get them outside. Yay! Today I am so excited to share 10 Fun & Simple Activities for Kids. All of these fun activities are tried & true ones that we have been doing in our family for years. My oldest is in college. Annnnd he can even tell you stories about all the fun we’ve had with just a few supplies that we usually have on hand like white cardstock, craft paper, scissors, googly eyes, glue, string, paper punches & of course, Crayola Sidewalk Chalk and Crayola Washable Crayons. I’m also going to share a tradition we do after a fun day outside using Dial® Body Wash. It’s a fun one! ha! You’ll want to read to the very end of the post for that. :) So, let’s get started!
My kiddos love Crayola Sidewalk Chalk. Annnnd I love that it can keep them entertained for hours! They literally can cover every inch of our sidewalks, porches & driveways. Annnnd then it just takes me just a few seconds to clean it all up with a water hose. ;) A lot of these fun ideas use chalk & crayons all from Crayola. The Crayola Washable Crayons are washable, too! :)
I don’t know about your kiddos, but my kiddos get extremely dirty after being outside all day running around playing, drawing with chalk and chasing balls. Sometimes they are so dirty, I don’t want them to walk through my house to the bathroom to take a bath. ;) So, we take the bath to them! We call it taking a bath in your swimsuit outside. ha! :)

1. Follow the Line.
For this fun activity, you simply need some Crayola Sidewalk Chalk. You draw crazy lines all over the sidewalk. We like to use a different color of chalk for each line. Then we take turns walking the line, trying to stay on right line all the way to the end. Then we pick a different color and walk back. It’s a great way to practice your balance. :)
2. Geometric Cards.
We love making cards and letters for our family & friends. :) Everyone loves to get a fun surprise in the mail. To make these fun geometric cards you simply need some white cardstock, washi tape and Crayola Washable Crayons. Using the washi tape, tape off a design. Get creative! :) Then color in each shape with different color crayon. Then carefully remove the washi tape leaving the design behind. So cool! It makes a fun card to send someone in the mail. :)
3. Hit the Target.
We also like to call this one hit the bull’s eye! ha! I’m not sure which is more fun making the fun colorful bull’s eye with Crayola Sidewalk Chalk or practicing tossing the bean bags afterwards! We give a bean bag to everyone, and the person that hits closest to the center of the target wins. You can even start close and then each round take a step back to make it a little bit more challenging. :)
4. Go Fish!
I think this might be my kiddos’ most favorite game ever! Go fish or just call it plain fishing is so much fun. First, we cut out the fish using some chipboard. Chipboard is super sturdy, and it will make these paper fish last forever. You could also use white cardstock or regular paper. Then my kiddos colored all the fish with Crayola Washable Crayons. They did such a great job. We have some really cute fish! :)
For the fishing pole we used a bamboo stick, some twine & a magnet. We attached a paper clip to the fish. Annnnd then it was time to go fishing. My daughter even made a cute pond (complete with lily pads!) with the Crayola Sidewalk Chalk for our fish to hang out in. So fun! :) This is a game that your kiddos will want to play again & again! :)
5. Tic Tac Toe.
Tic Tac Toe is another classic family favorite. Annnnd it’s the perfect game to use the Crayola Sidewalk Chalk with! We also used bean bags with this game, so we could use the same grid over and over. You could also use the chalk to write in the Xs and Os. Each player could chose a different color chalk to use. :)
6. Marbles.
My kiddos are older now, and my husband thought it would be fun to teach them an old school game, marbles! My 10 year old loves playing marbles. Make sure you find a pretty level spot to play on. Then make about a 3 foot wide circle using the Crayola Sidewalk Chalk. You’ll need a few marbles and a bigger shooter marble. Then take turns trying to knock each other’s marbles out of the circle. :)
7. Road Map.
We call this activity Road Map. You could also just call it making a little town. ;) I remember my mom doing this activity with us when we were kiddos, and I have continued the tradition with my kids. You will need some banner paper and Crayola Washable Crayons or you could use the Crayola Sidewalk Chalk to draw out your little city right on the porch or driveway.
Make houses, roads, parks and then use little toy cars to play with. :)
8. Animal Puppets.
My kiddos love putting on a puppet show! Annnnd I think they like making their own puppets even more. ;) To make these puppets, we drew different animals on Kraft paper circles and then colored them and added googly eyes.
Then we hot glued a jumbo popsicle stick to the back. Now we are ready for a family puppet show! :)
9. 4 Square.
Alright, we went back old school for this one, too! My husband was apparently a pretty good 4 Square baller back in the day. Annnnd he loves dusting off his skills and showing off for our kiddos. ;) We love to play 4 Square in the evening after dinner in the driveway. You will need the Crayola Sidewalk Chalk to draw a huge square. The bigger the better. Then you’ll divide that square into fours. Label them 1, 2, 3 and 4. The person in square 1 serves first from the far corner. It has to bounce once in another person’s square then they bounce it back to another person. If they miss or the ball goes out of bounds, you all rotate. My kiddos could play this for hours! :)
10. Memory Game.
For this activity, I cut out some cards using white cardstock & a paper trimmer. My cards measured 2 inches by 3 inches. Using the Crayola Washable Crayons draw two sets of each image. We drew a pair of cats, dogs, flowers, trees, heart, apples, carrots, etc. Take turns flipping two cards over. When you get a match, you can go again. The winner is the one that gets the most matches in the end. :)
