Hello! How was your weekend? Ours was unseasonably warm. Buuuut I’ll take it! ha! Today I am excited to be bring you a fun tutorial with DecoArt. What kiddo wouldn’t LOVE to see themselves on a huge puzzle? My kiddo sure did! This super easy Photo Block Puzzle is the perfect gift for the kiddo in your life. They could even help you make this. It’s that easy! So keep reading to see how! :)
For this project you will need:
- Americana Multi-Surface Acrylics ~ Red Barn
- sandpaper & hand sander
- 11x14 photo
- 1" foam brush
- 1" x 4" board (cut into nine 3 1/2 inch blocks)
- table saw
- paper trimmer
First, cut your wood blocks. Sand the edges, if needed.
Paint one coat of paint on your blocks. Let dry.
After your blocks have dried completely, distress your blocks with a sander.
Trim your 11x14 photo down to a 10-1/2 inch square to match the puzzle size. Then cut your photo into nine 3 1/2 inch by 3 1/2 inch squares.
Then your picture will be in pieces like the ones below.
Test each piece to make sure it fits the square properly. Trim if needed. Apply a coat of Americana Matte Decou-Page onto the square with a 1" foam brush. Position the image and apply another coat of Decou-Page on top. To remove any wrinkles or bubbles, carefully press down with brush in one direction. Let dry.
Be sure to go over the edges of the image to create a good seal.
Let your photo blocks completely dry. Then enjoy! :)
