Good morning! Last week my college aged son sent me a message & wanted to know if I could help make him & his friend matching Halloween costumes. Of course, I was so willing to help out! It’s kind of my specialty. haha! He sent me a picture of something he had found online ~ a Bob Ross & Happy Trees costume. (So, this idea is totally not original, but too cute not to share!) I’m sharing the Cricut cut files for the Happy Trees t-shirt & for the paint palette plus where we found the perfect Bob Ross wig. So, let’s get started! :) (Oh! Annnnd I have links to tons of other DIY Halloween costume ideas, too!) :)
For this project you will need:
Cricut Maker
rotary blade
fabric cutting mat (pink)
this Design Space cut file (leaves)
this Design Space cut file (art palette)
long sleeve brown t-shirt
hot glue & glue gun
wooden art palette
vinyl (multiple colors)
paint brush
light green & dark green felt (3 sheets each)
First, I cut out my felt leaves out with my Cricut Maker. TIP: Cricut Design Space does have a setting for felt, & it calls for the standard fine tip blade, but I don’t like to use that one! ha! I use the cotton fabric setting & the rotary blade to cut my felt. It cuts so much better that way. Also, if you don’t own a Cricut machine. You could totally free hand the leaves. It would just take a little bit longer.
Look at those nice clean lines!
I used the sheet felt & cut 3 sheets each of dark green & light green felt.
Then I just used a hot glue gun to attach the leaves to a brown t-shirt. Easy peasy! :)
I found this paint palette at Hobby Lobby for just a few dollars. I added some vinyl paint spots.
Annnnnd that’s it! I order a Bob Ross wig from Amazon.
My son will wear a blue button up shirt & jeans.
This is such an easy & cheap costume idea! I can’t wait to see them in it. :)
