Good morning! Are you ready for some football? Our family absolutely adores football season! We love it all….high school to pee wee to cheerleading to professional football. We are there for it all, and a lot of times that means bring along a tote bag for all our stuff. ha! So having a cute DIY Football Tote is the best. Annnnnd this bag was so easy to make using my Cricut Maker 3, Cricut EasyPress 2 & Cricut Smart Materials. Let me show you how I did it. :)
For this project you will need:
Cricut Smart Materials Glitter Iron-on (red)
Cricut Everyday Iron-on (brown)
Cricut Maker 3 (or other Cricut machine)
Cricut StandardGrip Cutting Mat
Cricut Weeding Tool

Let’s get started! :)
First, I used my new Cricut Maker 3 to cut out my iron-on material. TIP: Always remember to mirror your image when you are working with the iron-on. For the red glitter letters, I used Cricut Smart Iron-on which means I didn’t have to use a mat! Yay! You can read all about this new machine right here. One of my favorite features is being able to cut without a mat!
After I cut out my iron-on, I weeded out the excess vinyl leaving my design behind.
I used my weeding pick to get out all the tiny pieces!
After I cut out everything (the words were in glitter red iron-on and the football was regular brown everyday iron-on), I placed the design where I wanted it on my canvas tote. Since the glitter iron-on goes on at a higher temperature I started with it first. You can read more about using different types of iron-on in the same project right here.
Using the Cricut Heat Guide, I found just the right temperature & time setting for the material I was working with & with the type of iron-on I was using.
For the glitter iron-on, I waited until it was completely cooled. Then I slowly lifted the backing paper.
Next the football got it’s spot on the tote as well! :) Tip: When I applied the football decal I kept the backing sheet on top of the red glitter iron-on to protect it from the heat. You never want to use the EasyPress directly on any type of iron-on.
