Hello there! What a whirlwind couple of weeks we’ve had at our house. We have officially been in our new home for 6 weeks! Time flies! ha! Today we have our final inspection. We’ve only had our temporary occupancy permit up until now. That hasn’t stopped me from decorating though! ha! Each of our kiddos have their own room now, and it’s fun to let them decorate how they want to. My youngest son chose dinosaurs as his theme. Roar! :) Annnnnd I was super happy to jump in & help him decorate with my Cricut Maker. Let me show you what we did, and I also have tons of fun dinosaur themed ideas for you. Buuuuuut first let me show you how I made this cute Dinosaur Subway Art. Let’s get started. :)
To make this cute dino subway art you will need:
- Cricut Maker or Cricut Explore Air 2
- Cricut Essentials Tool Set
- Cricut Vinyl (I used black.)
- Cricut StandardGrip Cutting Mat
- Cricut Transfer Tape
- 11 inch by 11 inch board
- 1x2 frame to match your board
- wood stain
- white paint
- nail gun
- hand sander
- sandpaper

I have had my Cricut Maker for almost a year now, and I think I love it even more now! It’s a workhorse around my house, and it makes decorating our new home so easy!
Cricut Maker offers the ultimate in cutting performance and versatility. Unlike all other cutting machines, it has a fast mode which works super well with my favorite material, vinyl. Fast mode also works with iron-on & cardstock, too. Fast mode can be used for writing as well. Sometimes you don’t have as much time as you’d like to craft, so it’s nice to move it along if you have to. ;)
If you notice, the Cricut Maker comes with the ah-mazing Adaptive Tool System with its expandable suite of tools, enabling you to cut the most materials and make the hugest variety of projects. You can literally cut hundreds of materials with your Maker from fabric to paper to chipboard to leather & even wood! I can’t wait to get my hands on that knife blade!
I just love this sleek machine. You don’t have to turn a dial. It automatically adjust to whatever material you are cutting. It’s extremely user friendly, and with the 1000s of designs in Design Space you are sure to find the perfect project!
Annnnnnd did I mention that it has tons of storage???!!! OK, enough gushing over the machine, let’s get to work. ha! ;)
First, I cut out my design and then weeded the excess vinyl away. Remember you can find this exact design here.
Then I covered my vinyl with some transfer tape.
Earlier I had painted & stained my wood. Before I applied the vinyl, I assembled my frame.
All it took was a few nails from my nail gun & my frame was ready.
Then I slowly removed the backing paper, leaving my vinyl on the transfer tape.
I placed my vinyl on the sign, and gently rubbed it in place.
Slowly remove your transfer tape. TIP: Remove your tape at an angle. It usually comes off easier that way!
All done! Wasn’t that easy???
It looks super cute in my son’s room! :)
Alright, let me show you some more adorable dinosaur ideas from Cricut!
1. This Triceratops Wall Art is so cute! It’s an easy project that just requires cutting some Cricut cardstock and assembling the design in a shadow box for a 3D look. Change the color of the cardstock to match your décor and you’ll have a truly custom art piece that your kiddo will love!
2. What kiddo could resist a Dinosaur Window Cling??? Not mine! haha! ;) I love that this is part décor & part play! Make a bunch of them in different sizes & colors. Your kiddos will be playing for hours! Stock up Cricut Window Cling. It’s ah-mazing!
3. You know I love vinyl. Annnnnd it’s truly the easiest & fastest way to decorate & make a huge impact in a room. These Dinosaur Tracks in my son’s room are too cool! He just loves them! All I needed was some white Cricut Vinyl & my Cricut Maker & in just a few minutes he had the coolest room ever! :)
4. This 3-D Dinosaur is on the advanced level, but what a fun project to try out. Older kiddos might even want to help with the assembly. To make this guy you will need Cricut cardstock , Cricut Tools Scoring Stylus, Cricut Antiquity Pen Set & of course, your Maker.
5. These Dinosaur Book Ends are so, so, so cute! To make these you will need medium weight chipboard . You’ll also need a Cricut 12x12 StrongGrip Cutting Mat and a Cricut Deep Cut Blade. Using the chipboard will make these guys sturdy!
6. I think this T-Rex Wall Clock is next on my list! Isn’t it amazing??!! All it takes is an old clock & some colorful vinyl & in no time (no pun intended!) you’ll have this cute clock!
7. This is definitely something the kiddos can help with. Grab a mason jar, add a little bit of vinyl & some rocks, dirt & succulents & you’ll have a fun Dinosaur Terrarium to display. Cute!
8. I love this simple, but striking Dinosaur Wall Art. There is just something I love about black & white décor. All this takes is some Cricut cardstock, a frame & a little bit of time. Love it!
9. I know this isn’t technically dinosaur related. Buuuuut even dinosaur rooms need to be organized! Am I right? ;) Probably my most favorite part of having a Cricut Maker is that I can literally label everything! It just makes me so happy! haha! :) To make these labels I used Cricut vinyl. I wanted something removeable. You could also use Cricut Iron-on along with a Cricut EasyPress & EasyPress Mat to make these labels as well. You can find the design file here, and then customize it to fit your needs. :) (Did you notice we don’t have floor trim yet??? haha! It’s coming soon!)
