Last month I shared our big news! We are moving! I am so excited to share more of our journey of building our own home and all that details that go along with that. Buuuuut first things first! We have to sale our current home! :) I’ve been busy getting everything ready to put our current home up on the market. That happened about 3 weeks ago. We’ve already had multiple offers, and we are set to close (if everything goes well!) early next month. This is our 3rd time selling a home, and I’ve learned a few tricks & tips to selling your home quick over the years. Tip #1: Make sure your home smells good!
I believe how your home smells can be one the biggest selling points to potential buyers. It’s one of the first things potential buyers will notice as soon as they step into your home.

Tip #2: Vacuum & clean the carpets & floors.
Just a simple vacuuming of carpets & sweeping of hard floors can make such a huge difference in how your home shows. Don’t forget to sweep & clean underneath furniture. You want to banish those dust bunnies! haha!
Tip #3: Touch up paint.
Be sure to use a Saturday afternoon to go around your home to touch up paint. Pay special attention to trim paint. Trim paint around doors always take a beating. A fresh coat of paint can do wonders. Patch any dings in your walls and paint over nail holes.

Pack up items you aren’t using. The less clutter you have around the better, and you home will look bigger. Pack up toys, craft supplies, extra books & anything you don’t need to use daily. Store them in the garage or even rent a storage unit to store your stuff out of sight. The less clutter your home has, the bigger and cleaner your home will look to potential buyers. Do you think I own a little bit too much vinyl? haha! ;)
Pay special attention to entry ways. When potential buyers walk in, this will be the spot that they get their first impression of your home. Make it a good one! Check out our cluttered entryway. Coats, bags & hats crowd the entry & make it look cluttered & smaller than it actually is.

Annnnd of course, donate as much as you can to a local charity or host a garage sale. It always feels good to purge! It will make your upcoming move that much easier as well. :)
Tip #5: Deep clean your home.
Dust blinds, light fixtures & fans. Get the cobwebs out of the corners, too. Deep clean bathrooms and organize closets. Scrub doors and countertops. Straighten the garage and sweep the porches and decks. A clean home will sale much faster than a dirty home.
