Good morning! I am so excited to be back with another addition of Create with Cricut. Last month the theme was felt. You can see that post here. Today we are all sharing projects with cereal boxes. Yep, cereal boxes! Kinda like chipboard…..but a whole lot cheaper. So, go grab them out of the trash or recycling bin…..we about to get crafty with cereal boxes. ha! ;) Let me show you how I made these cute Cereal Box Photo Props. Let’s get started! :)
Supplies:
Cricut Maker
cereal boxes
paper trimmer
acrylic craft paint
foam craft brush
wood dowel
hot glue gun
hot glue
spray adhesive

Alright, let’s get started! First, cut your cereal boxes into sheets. I just used my paper trimmer to do this.
Can you tell which cereals we like best? ha!
Place the cutting mat with your cereal box on it into your Maker. TIP: The Maker does have a cereal box material setting. I ended up using the matboard setting. Annnnnnd it cut through my cereal box like butter. Yay! :)
Next, I used some spray adhesive to put two pieces together back to back. Glue the printed side of the cereal box together. I wanted these photo props to be super sturdy. You’ll see why in just a sec!
Then I used a foam paint brush & some acrylic paint to paint my props. I did two coats in each side letting it dry between coats.
When they were nice & dry I hot glued a wooden dowel to the back. TIP: If your photo props curl slightly after painting, put them under some heavy books for a few hours before you attach the dowel, & they will flatten right out.
All done! :)
My daughter used these photo props as part of her photo booth Valentine’s box. Now you see why I needed them to be super sturdy! ha! They worked perfectly, and survived their trip to the 5th grade! Annnnnd she won her class Valentine box competition, too. Yay! :)
Enjoy these other cereal box projects! I can’t wait to see what we do next month! :)
